Abstract

The design of vertical formwork is dependent on the lateral pressure predicted to act on the form face. Experimental research into the construction of 11 columns was carried out with the objective of verifying and comparing the adequacy of different theories. Pressure was measured in a direct form using pressure sensors, which permits verify the maximum lateral pressure. The results shown that the model prediction match with the hydrostatic distribution, being in general conservative, therefore much more research is needed with the objective of determined a model to predict in a better form the lateral pressure realized by fresh concrete, at high placement rates.
