Abstract

A brief summary is presented on the fundamental characteristics of the elastomers and the physical properties that support their capabilities to deal with a large number of problems in the building industry. The elastomers find multiple applications in the structural insulation, the anti vibratory treatments, the sealing systems and the acoustic and thermal conditioning. Representative examples of application and development of specific materials and systems are presented. A special point is reserved for elastomer recycling techniques and the possibilities for environmental valorization of practical results in building industry.
