Resumo

A barriga de aluguer é apresentada como uma técnica de reprodução assistida que ajuda certas pessoas que desejam ser pais. No entanto, a sua prática tem gerado divergências entre as feministas. De facto, o feminismo liberal, que advoga a autonomia das mulheres, defende a barriga de aluguer como um sinal de liberdade. Em contrapartida, as feministas radicais e as ecofeministas vêem esta prática como uma forma de instrumentalização e exploração das mulheres. Este artigo procura reflectir sobre as implicações sociais e filosóficas da maternidade de substituição, a fim de mostrar o que resulta da mercantilização da maternidade e o que pode acontecer ao vínculo paterno e materno-filial quando nele se introduz a lógica tecnocientífica.
