Abstract

The Production and Operations Management topic is a part of all engineering curricula. Reforms in the teaching plans of various countries have extended the range of subjects framed in this discipline, which must coordinate and split the content. On the other hand, companies require engineers trained in systematic processes improvement methodologies and also in a practical approach to problem solving focused on the systematic elimination of waste. This paper presents a teaching proposal focused on the explanation of Lean Manufacturing tools, including quantitative evaluation methods, allowing students to acquire, in a practical way, specific abilities and skills in Production and Operations Management.
