In various countries of the Ibero-American community, particularly in recent decades, there has been a growing interest in the scientific approach to the history of the religious phenomenon. This is an expanding process that is reflected in the increase in research projects, publications (books, articles, dossiers), events and the creation - or consolidation - of academic areas (seminars, chairs, postgraduate courses).
For the "Studies" section of this issue of the journal Humanidades, we propose to update the historiographical production on the Christian churches in the nations that make up the Ibero-American space in the 20th and 21st centuries. The aim is to make a critical review of the bibliography, highlighting the main contributions and innovations in the study of the development of the Catholic Church and the Reformed confessions, in terms of thematic approaches, theoretical paradigms and methodological prescriptions.
Some of the lines of research proposed for the reception of papers are:
- Christianity as an object of analysis that is broadened and approached from history, sociology and anthropology.
- Studies on secularisation and secularity from alternative approaches.
- The new perception of the Catholic Church and the Reformed Churches as social actors, with diverse roles, multiple levels of dialogue or tension.
- Religious or Christian history: from confessional or ecclesiastical history to scientific history.
- Analysis of authors, themes and interpretative currents.
The deadline for submission is 30 April 2023.
